Free Embroidery Designs

I just came across a large pack of wheaten terrier embroidery designs, which I wanted to share with you. You cannot miss these lovely dogs. Enter SecretsOf.com (Go to “Everything for Embroidery”, click on Designs, choose Designers A-F, then choose Birdhouse Cottage and finally scroll down below for Dogs in Action or Dog Portraits - whew, that was a long journey!). What I really like in these embroidery designs is that each dog seems to express itself, just like human beings. It could be the smug look of the Bull Mastif, the shy smile of the Daxie Smooth or the calm look of the Afghan. These wheaten terrier embroidery designs are really impressive. All designs are done using machine embroidery and you can choose from art, hus, jef, pcs, pes or sew formats for any of the embroidery designs. You also have flexibility in the choice of the size, either 4 by 4 inches OR 6 by 8 inches. There is one free terrier embroidery design available for download on the above mentioned page of SecretsOf.com.

I just found some good free husqvarna embroidery designs, which I wanted to share with you. The “Chimney Sweep” has a simple yet elegant look to it. By the way, it was only recently that I found out that “Husqvarna” (which sounds Russian to me) is in fact a Swedish company founded in 1689 and its name is a spelling variant of the company’s hometown, Huskvarna.”

If you want some more Husqvarna embroidery designs, you could go to Designs By Sick. They have a good collection (one of which is next to this post) at an affordable price.

Sew Much Fun: A good book on Embroidery Design SoftwareOne of my friends recently gifted me this Embroidery Design Software book - Sew Much Fun: 14 Projects to Stitch & Machine Embroider and I was overwhelmed since it answered quite a few questions I had hidden inside me in an easy lucid manner. You definitely must not miss it! One of the most important points is that it begins from embroidery design basics. The language and graphics used are very good which made reading interesting. Take a look at the language in the basics: “When you machine embroider, several major factors influence the quality of the finished design: they include embroidery machine (or module) maintenance, the embroidery design itself, the products used and the user technique.” Then the book further goes on to exemplify the four details through photographs. Makes it quite comprehensive, doesn’t it? It would be helpful to know something about machine embroidery designing to grasp the contents of the book easily, especially the 14 projects. The one I liked best was Fisherman’s Wall Clock. The book also comes with a bonus CDROM with 40 free embroidery designs. If you do read this book, I would be delighted to have your comments on the projects that you loved to embroider.

Moon is a free embroidery designI just came across Embroidery DK when i was actually searching for something else. I don’t remember what is was specifically searching for — something to do with categories of embroidery designs. This site had a good look and feel and more important, it had subcategorised its basket of embroidery designs. Lot of free embroidery designs and for the rest, only 5 dollars for 4200 designs. The free embroidery designs can be downloaded easily and seemed okay to me. (one shouldn’t say anything bad about something that is free. That’s just not on). They also claim to have the worlds greatest subscription. By the way, they have a lot of designs using SHV, VIP, HUS, PES, SEW, JEF, PCS, DST, ART and XXX and you might just want to get some information on machine embroidery designs. Do let me know how you rate this site.

Free Embroidery DesignsHaving nothing better to do this morning, I searched for embroidery designs forums on Google. While many of the returned results were either paid embroidery design web sites or sites that are struggling to attract a wide enough audience to make their discussions more lively, one embroidery designs forum definitely got my attention.

With over 5,000 registered members and close to 70,000 posts, SewForum.com is one of the largest and most lively embroidery designs forums I have ever visited. Those of you who have prior experience with other discussion forums will find the site’s layout familiar, pleasant, and extremely user-friendly. All the posts are organized into sections and each section is further broken down into sub-categories.

The two most interesting sections are definitely the ‘Project Showcase’ and ‘SewForum.com’. As the name suggests, the ‘Project Showcase’ is where people show off their embroidery designs. As I write this, there are altogether 474 posts. Showing off, however, is not the only thing one can do inside the ‘Project Showcase’ as the other sub-category is devoted to free embroidery designs. There, you can download and use for free (as long as you observe the copyright) any of the hundreds of free embroidery designs.

It is divided into eight sub-categories, including: Embroidery, Sewing, Knitting, Quilting, Serging, Crafting & Home Decor, Industrial, and Starting Your Own Business. Of course, for me personally, the most interesting is the Embroidery category and to say that I was positively surprised, is a gross understatement. Got a question about poor stitch quality? Not sure which stabilizer to use? What about metallic threads? If your question isn’t already answered in one of those 5,500+ posts, you can be sure that several of the active forum members will get back to you with their qualified advice within hours of you asking your question.
