"Skirt embroidery design by Tribal Women" is an example of shrine embroidery design
Shrine embroidery designs have really fascinated me. Unlike other embroidery designs, these designs have a charm of their own especially in the sombre portrayal of the symmetrical patterns entrenched on their surface. I have seen quite a few shrine embroidery designs, but the one that really caught my eye is the one next to this post. Not really because of its beauty, but because of its history. These skirts are made of handwoven hemp in indigo color with batik design, applique embroidery and has been used by Hmong tribe women in Thailand, Laos and Burma. You can view these and others at Shrine embroidery design skirts.
